The First Wooden Smartwatch Made in Romania and What We Learned from It

In the spring of 2018, seven publications wrote about the same project: a hybrid wooden watch, made in Romania. It was the greatest attention NOAH had ever received in the press.
What the hybrid watch was
It looked like an ordinary watch, with hands and a wooden dial, but it connected to your phone. It notified you when someone important called, counted your steps, and didn't need to be charged daily. We were planning two versions, one for the office and one for active people, and a crowdfunding launch.
“The launch of the hybrid watch will take place through a campaign hosted by Kickstarter”
Business Magazin, May 2018
What happened to it
The hybrid watch is no longer in production. It taught us a lot about suppliers, about electronics, and about how difficult it is to make a complex product. We chose to go back to what we do best.
What remains
The wooden watch, handcrafted in the Cluj workshop, with a Swiss Ronda movement and sapphire glass. The wood comes from all over the world, by species, and is neither painted nor varnished. And on the back there is space for engraving, so the watch can belong to someone special.
